Boynton Beach Police officers arrested a sex offender wanted in Lee County on multiple charges.
According to a news release, Boynton Beach Police Department officers arrested 46-year-old Michael Lentz after he was accused of soliciting a person he thought was a 15-year-old boy on a dating app.
The news release said that Lentz contacted an undercover detective from BBPD's Human Exploitation Task Force posing as a 15-year-old boy on April 29. Police say the conversation transferred from the app to texting, and Lentz solicited the "minor" for sex and sent explicit photos.
BBPD detectives began to investigate and found that Lentz is a registered sex offender with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and is currently on federal probation for possession of child sexual abuse material, the release said.
BBPD detectives notified the United States Probation Office, Fort Myers Division, which led to Lentz being taken into federal custody on May 13 for six violations of his supervised release.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office later charged Lentz with an additional five felonies for failing to register as a sex offender and false registration violations. On May 20, the Boynton Beach Police Department charged Lentz with solicitation of a minor to engage in sexual conduct and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
