NOAA predicts below-normal 2026 Atlantic hurricane season

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted a below-normal 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.

The announcement came at a press conference in Lakeland on Thursday

Their outlook predicted 8 to 14 names storms, and of those, 1 to 3 could become major hurricanes.

NOAA said that the emerging El Niño is driving the outlook.
