FORT MYERS, Fla. —

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch took place Thursday morning, blasting off from Cape Canaveral shortly after 6 a.m., with the rocket spotted in the sky across the Gulf Coast.

Gulf Coast residents from Fort Myers to Naples captured videos and pictures of the rocket's ascent.
