Deputies respond to overturned 18-foot boat in Boca Grande, three rescued

BOCA GRANDE, Fla. (WINK)—The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to an overturned boat in Boca Grande.

Deputies responded to the scene at around 12 p.m. on Monday, where they confirmed that an 18-foot vessel, with three occupants on board, was traveling near Boca Grande Pass when it began to take on water.

According to the sheriff’s office, the passengers were safely picked up by nearby boaters.

No injuries have been reported. It remains unclear how the vessel overturned.

FWC has confirmed it will serve as the lead agency in this investigation and will release updates whenever they become available.
