Lee County lifts burn ban, cites increase in seasonal rain

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

Lee County has lifted the burn ban that has been in place since Jan. 20.

The county allowed the burn ban, which had previously been extended weekly since it was enacted, to expire on Wednesday, citing an increase in seasonal rainfall.

The Keetch-Byram Drought Index mean average was down to 463 out of 800 on Tuesday. Lee County's index value was at 637 when the ban was enacted.

The county encourages residents and visitors to use caution while resuming any burning activities.
