Man wanted on Colorado felony charge escapes deputies on I-75 near Naples

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is responding to an active scene along Interstate 75 near mile marker 108.

On Wednesday, deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol began searching for Onel Vicente Martinez after attempting to serve a search warrant out of Colorado for felony violation of probation.

WINK News contacted the sheriff’s office for a statement regarding this investigation. Deputies confirmed that the suspect fled on foot, prompting a boots-on-the-ground search.

Martinez has not been located; however, law enforcement cleared the scene. According to the sheriff's office, the search continues, and deputies are following up on other leads in an attempt to locate him.

A fire truck, ambulance, Florida Highway Patrol troopers and CCSO deputies lined the scene on I-75. Florida Department of Transportation workers surrounded a silver car in the median, and several road rangers were also on scene.

The scene cleared quickly after a tow truck arrived. Traffic is now flowing freely through the area.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office said the investigation continues and deputies are following up on other leads in an attempt to locate Martinez.
