Multiple injured; 1 seriously, after crash involving bus and pickup truck in Lee County

ALVA, Fla. (WINK) — A bus carrying multiple passengers collided with a pickup truck on State Road 80 in Alva early Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 6:08 a.m. when a 2011 Freightliner B2 bus traveling north on First Street attempted to turn left onto State Road 80, according to FHP. The bus came to a stop in the paved median, but its rear left side extended into the eastbound travel lane.

A 2019 Nissan Titan pickup truck traveling east on State Road 80 collided with the rear-left of the bus. The front of the pickup struck the bus, FHP said.

Seven adult passengers on the bus were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. The 31-year-old male bus driver from Arcadia was not injured.

The 64-year-old male driver of the pickup truck from Lehigh Acres was transported to an area hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

As of 9:30 a.m., all roads are now clear.

The crash remains under investigation.
