Woman arrested after traffic stop drug bust on US-41 in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A woman was arrested after a traffic stop led to a drug bust in Lee County on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Jacqueline Stacy, 31, was arrested after the Tactical Narcotics Team stopped a vehicle failing to maintain its lane on US-41 by Lazy Days Village in North Fort Myers.

Detectives said they asked the passenger, identified as Stacy, to step out of the vehicle so K-9 Atlas could conduct a free-air sniff. When she went to get out, deputies said she was accused of trying to hide a small bag with a white substance under her purse, but it fell to the floor and was reportedly identified as cocaine. In the video, the woman said it was her feminine product.

"Obviously, the cops weren't born yesterday," Linda Dexter of Cape Coral said.

"If you're doing those types of things, you are going to try and hide it. I wouldn't expect anything less," Amanda Trottier of Cape Coral said.

The sheriff's office said a search was conducted, where they found more cocaine and drug paraphernalia in a shoebox in the trunk that reportedly belonged to Stacy. More than 44 grams of cocaine were seized, detectives said.

"Any number is a big number, especially of cocaine," Dexter said.

Stacy was arrested and is facing charges of trafficking in cocaine (28 grams or more), possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
