ESTERO, Fla. (WINK)— Lee County Utilities will shut off water service for about seven hours starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, affecting 1,600 homes and seven businesses along Corkscrew Road east of Interstate 75.
Areas affected include:
Corkscrew Road from Grammercy Boulevard to Hanley Boulevard, including 17700, 17750 and 17880 Corkscrew Road
All of Verdana Village
All of The Shoppes at Verdana Village
Estero Fire Rescue Station No. 45
According to a press release, the outage is necessary to install a 16-inch water valve. Water service will be restored early Wednesday morning, followed by a precautionary Boil Water Notice that is expected to remain in effect for several days.
The affected areas include Corkscrew Road from Grammercy Boulevard to Hanley Boulevard, all of Verdana Village, all of The Shoppes at Verdana Village and Estero Fire Rescue Station No. 45. Specific addresses impacted are 17700, 17750 and 17880 Corkscrew Road.
Once water service resumes Wednesday, residents must boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes at a rolling boil for one minute. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
Precautionary boil water notices are issued when water pressure within a main drops below 20 psi. Lee County Utilities will keep the notice in effect until bacteriological testing confirms the drinking water is safe, which typically takes 48 to 72 hours to complete.
The county encourages affected residents to plan ahead for the outage and appreciates their patience and understanding.
