Naples registered sex offender accused of possessing more than 1,200 child sexual abuse material

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

A Naples registered sex offender wanted for reported possession of child pornography was arrested on Friday in East Naples after he was accused of having more than 1,200 child sexual abuse material images and videos on his laptop.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Peter Heisler, 62, was arrested stemming from an investigation by detectives in partnership with the Southwest Florida INTERCEPT Task Force and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Heisler sold his laptop to a pawnshop in East Naples on May 12. Deputies said they were then contacted by employees who said they found the reported images.

Detectives said they performed a digital forensics examination of the laptop and reportedly found 1,201 images and 44 videos.

Heisler is a registered sex offender after he was convicted in a 2000 case involving three counts of lewd assault on minors, according to the sheriff's office.

Heisler faces 25 felony counts of possession of child pornography. Deputies said the investigation is still ongoing and more charges could be pending.
