The Naples Stormwater Beach Outfall Project is ahead of schedule, the latest update from the city confirmed.
The goal of the project is to ensure that drainage and stormwater infrastructure remains strong for years to come. The project looks to modernize aging systems that have struggled to keep pace with the demands put on the Naples coastline and deliver long-term benefits for residents, the environment and wildlife alike.
Water main work 4th Ave N and 2nd Ave S
According to the city, the water main tie-in between 4th Avenue North and 2nd Avenue South is well underway and expected to be in service by July.
The project team is also proactively advancing water main work south of 1st Avenue North ahead of the original timeline in preparation for the final phase, which includes roadway, drainage and water main work from 1st Avenue North to 2nd Avenue South. The final phase will begin in August and conclude by the end of the year.
Pump stations and directional drilling
The city said that two outfall pipes have been successfully installed via horizontal directional drilling at pump stations located at 8th Ave North and 3rd Avenue North.
The 3rd Avenue North pump station is expected to be operational by August, which is three months ahead of schedule. The 8th Avenue North pump station is expected to be finished by September.
Restorations at Alligator Lake Pocket Park
Structural work at Alligator Lake was completed in March 2026, according to the city. Crews are now focused on restoring the pocket park, with landscaping, irrigation, paving and facade work all currently underway.
Excavation on Gulf Shore Blvd N at 3rd Ave N
According to the city, the large excavation taking place at the intersection of Gulf Shore Boulevard North and 3rd Avenue North is for the construction of critical pump station infrastructure.
Crews are in the process of pouring concrete as part of the "cast-in-place" process, which is expected to be completed within the next couple of weeks.
The entire Beach Outfall Project is expected to conclude by May 2027.
