WATCH: Car drives backward on Naples roadway, prompting legal questions

NAPLES, Fla. —

A driver was spotted driving backward on Seagate Drive in Naples on Wednesday.

Viewer video submitted to Gulf Coast News captured the moment the driver reversed their car and continued to drive down Seagate Drive.

Questions surround the legality of what the driver did, as some have pointed out that the driver was technically driving with the flow of traffic, just in reverse.

According to Florida Statutes, a driver cannot reverse a vehicle unless the movement can be done safely without interfering with other traffic.

The statute states that an immediate safety violation occurs when the white headlights are pointing away from the path of travel, and the red taillights are facing oncoming drivers.
