CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK)—A major safety improvement project is now underway on Burnt Store Road between Delilah Drive and Vincent Avenue as crews work to make the corridor safer for drivers.
The project includes new four-foot-wide paved shoulders, right and left turn lanes at Caloosa Parkway, new guardrails, rumble strips and updated road signs.
These improvements aim to enhance safety along the heavily traveled corridor.
For one neighbor, Dustin Riczo, the improvements are a welcome change to a road he uses every day.
"You can never be safe enough. I love the idea of doing new guardrails and sidewalks, especially because I have kids and once they're in school, I would like there to be safe roads," Riczo said.
The project is expected to run through winter 2026. In the meantime, drivers are encouraged to slow down, follow posted signs and use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.
