Human skeletal remains discovered at Sugden Regional Park in Collier County identified

Human remains that were discovered at Sugden Regional Park in Collier County have been identified as a man missing for three years.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the skeletal remains found were identified as Edward Mark Votava, 42, through dental records.

According to the incident report, a human skull and a noose were found near each other.

According to NamUs, Votava was last seen by a family member on Feb. 12, 2023, in Cape Coral.

Deputies said the cause and manner of death remain under investigation.
