Parrot Outreach Society's cockatoo friends visit studio
6/2/2026
Feathered friends from Parrot Outreach Society flapped into the studio Tuesday morning.
Volunteers brought in a flock of cockatoos and spoke about why more people should think about getting a bird.
The nonprofit's mission is to rescue and rehabilitate parrots and eventually get them adopted. Last year alone, it was able to find more than 200 birds new homes.
You can visit the volunteers taking care of the birds at their Punta Gorda location, 1205 Elizabeth St., down the road from Charlotte High School. There, you can also discuss adopting one of these birds.
If you would like to help the organization continue caring for birds, feel free to visit its website. You can also adopt. To do so, you must fill out an application and complete three one-hour visits and an at-home visit, and you will get a checklist of what the bird needs.
