CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A teenager who was hit by a car while riding his e-bike has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 17-year-old died June 2 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, days after the May 30 crash in Charlotte County.
The crash happened on Coliseum and Wilmington boulevards, right next to Myakka River Elementary School.
Florida Highway Patrol arrested 33-year-old Angelica Clark after the crash, and troopers said she kept going after hitting the teenager.
Clark got home after the crash and told her son what happened, who eventually called 911, according to FHP.
She allegedly told troopers she had been drinking before the crash. Clark gave a blood sample to troopers, according to her arrest report.
FHP said toxicology results are still pending. The investigation remains ongoing.
