SANIBEL, Fla. (WINK) — A 7-week-old coyote pup fighting for her life after a suspected vehicle strike in Cape Coral is recovering well following a successful surgery to repair a broken front leg.
An update provided by the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) on Friday shows the coyote pup recovering and continuing to heal while in the non-profit's care.
The injured animal was taken into CROW’s care on May 8 after a Cape Coral police officer brought the injured pup from Pine Island Road to VEG ER for Pets in Fort Myers. CROW volunteers then transported her to the clinic on Sanibel Island.

A fundraiser was held by CROW to pay for the eventual surgery needed to treat the coyote pup, after an initial examination found the animal sustained a broken leg and head trauma. Around $3,400 in donations were made following CROW’s initial posting on the injured pup.
According to CROW, since 2023, 25 coyotes have been treated or brought to CROW. The nonprofit wildlife hospital has seen 2,521 patients so far in 2026.
CROW then added that additional updates on the pup's condition will be shared as they become available.
