Authorities investigate violent threat at Hendry Regional Medical Center

CLEWISTON, Fla. — Law enforcement agencies are responding to a reported threat of violence at Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston.

The Hendry County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating the threat and is the lead agency in the case.

Authorities said a large law enforcement presence is at the medical center after hospital staff received a report of a threat of violence. Law enforcement has secured the area surrounding the hospital and restricted access to the facility while the investigation continues.

Officials said no evacuations are underway, and hospital operations remain ongoing.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area. Additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
