6/5/2026

The Collier County Sheriff's Office issued a warning for the "teen takeover" events on Thursday after multiple have popped up across the country.
In a Facebook post from CCSO, they warned those planning and attending these events to reconsider, since these "teen takeovers" have ended in:
- Property damage
- Fights
- Traffic disruptions
- Injuries
- Arrests
Collier County Sheriff's Office said they are using multiple avenues to monitor these planned events before they happen.
CCSO adds, even though these gatherings may seem harmless, teens' actions could result in criminal charges, including:
- Criminal Mischief
- Battery
- Obstructing Traffic
- Disorderly Conduct
- Trespassing
- Resisting an Officer
- Fleeing and Eluding
- Inciting a Riot
- Aggravated Rioting
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that statewide prosecutors are developing a plan to prosecute the people responsible for planning these "teen takeovers."
CCSO asks parents to have conversations with their children on the implications planning or attending these events may have on their future.
"We encourage parents to have a conversation with their teens TONIGHT about making responsible choices, understanding the consequences of their actions and avoiding situations that can quickly spiral out of control," CCSO wrote in a Facebook post.
