Fort Myers Middle Academy security specialist accused of messaging students, soliciting child porn

A safety and security specialist for Fort Myers Middle Academy is in custody after being accused of soliciting child porn and inappropriately communicating with two students, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.

FMPD says that in April their Special Victims Unit began investigating following a complaint involving Duane T. Simon. FMPD says that an investigation determined that Simon was communicating with two students, and that those communications were sexual in nature.

Simon was arrested on Thursday and charged with the following:

• Two counts of an authority figure soliciting a student to engage in lewd conduct
• Two counts of using a computer to solicit a child
• Two counts of solicitation of child pornography
