New 100K Sq Ft clinic coming to Cape Coral to provide cancer services

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — Lee Health has broken ground on a new hospital in Cape Coral that could ease some strain on the existing Cape Coral Hospital.

The 100,000-square-foot ambulatory clinic will be located right off Veterans Memorial Parkway next to the Lowe's. It will offer imaging, cardiology, oncology services, and more.

WINK News reporter Bella Line sat down with Kris Fay, the chief administrative officer of Lee Physician Group and Ambulatory Care.

"This project will not only care for patients and their families, but it also provides good jobs for Cape Coral, and we expect to employ an additional 100 to 150 staff members, so it provides some economic benefit for the Cape, as well as the service that we're providing, and again, I think it recognizes the growth and the fact that we are committed to the Cape Coral community," Fay said.

Fay said the clinic will help ease some of the strain on the Cape Coral Hospital, located on Del Prado Boulevard. She says this is Lee Health's biggest project in more than 40 years in Cape Coral.

The facility will provide oncology services, something Lee Health hasn't offered in this city yet. Fay said the new location will also provide orthopedic services and heart care.

"We've not had a presence for treating cancer patients in the Cape, so this new location will provide cancer, MSK, orthopedic services, as well as heart," Fay said. "So it's a location that really can treat many patients, and many folks have issues with one of those three specialties."

Fay said the project should be finished in the fall of 2027.
