Semi carrying lithium batteries catches fire on Alligator Alley in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WINK)— A semi-truck carrying lithium batteries caught fire on northbound Interstate 75 at mile marker 58 on Alligator Alley.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are on scene managing the incident, according to a press release.
The truck-trailer was loaded with lithium batteries when it caught fire. Northbound I-75 traffic was diverted at Exit 49.
The left lane of northbound I-75 is reopened to allow residual traffic through. Southbound I-75 traffic remains open and is not affected by the incident.
FHP said updates will be provided as needed.
