FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — Fort Myers firefighters contained a blaze to a single room after heavy smoke poured from a two-story apartment building Sunday afternoon.
The Fort Myers Police Department evacuated residents from the building on Broadway before the Fort Myers Fire Department arrived. According to Fire Chief McMillon, crews launched an aggressive fire attack while simultaneously searching for potential victims.
Firefighters successfully prevented the flames from spreading beyond one room.
Crews remained on scene to ensure no fire extension or smoke lingered inside the structure.
