A Fort Myers Man was arrested after he was accused of ramming his car into a Clearwater Police patrol vehicle.
According to CPD, Garrett Burr intentionally caused the crash around midnight on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard just west of U.S. 19.
The Clearwater Police officer said he was sitting at a red light in his marked Ford F-150 when Garrett sped up and hit the truck on purpose. According to police, the officer was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was treated and later released for minor injuries.
Investigators said Garrett, who was driving a 2025 Kia Soul, told officers he intentionally struck the officer’s vehicle. Police said he did not say why and declined to speak further with officers.
Burr is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
