Man accused of calling 911 during traffic stop in Lee County, resisting arrest

A man was arrested Sunday morning in Lee County after being accused of resisting arrest and calling 911 during a Florida Highway Patrol traffic stop.

According to FHP, a trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on I-75 by Corkscrew Road at around 7:49 a.m. The driver, identified as Luis Marin Gonzalez, 26, refused to provide ID, became agitated, and then put his window up.

Marin Gonzalez then called 911 mid-traffic stop, and the call went through to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, FHP said. Troopers then boxed in Marin Gonzalez's vehicle and gave him opportunities to put his window down and cooperate, which he did not, according to FHP.

Troopers broke out the vehicle's side window and removed Marin Gonzalez from the vehicle while he continued to resist arrest, FHP said. He was then shot with a Taser, handcuffed, and taken to jail.

Marin Gonzalez faces charges of resisting an officer without violence and misuse of 911.
