According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies began investigating an armed robbery at OG Smoke N Vape in Bonita Springs on June 4. Surveillance footage showed a masked man entering the business, brandishing a gun, and demanding several items before leaving the scene.
The following day, deputies located video of the suspect walking around the area before the robbery, with no mask on, LCSO said.
On the same day, deputies received a missing persons report for 17-year-old Xavier Nicoll, who was last seen wearing clothes that were identical to what the robbery suspect was wearing, LCSO said. Family members then identified Nicoll from the surveillance footage and told deputies that a safe inside their home was damaged and a handgun was missing.
On June 5, LCSO was notified by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency that Nicoll had been arrested following a brief chase in a stolen vehicle, LCSO said. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Collier County the day after the robbery.
Nicoll is being held in Dothan, Alabama, while awaiting extradition to Lee County. He faces charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a Florida delinquent. Additional charges are pending.
