Man arrested in Cape Coral for burglary while on the way to court for prior burglary, police say

A man was arrested in Cape Coral on Monday and accused of burglary while he was on his way to court for a prior burglary, police say.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, at around 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at an RV.

The caller told officers that they were inside their RV when an unknown man approached and attempted to open the locked door multiple times. The man, identified as Devon Turner, 33, was described as wearing women's clothing, including leggings and a tank top, and carrying a small women's backpack, CCPD said.

After failing to open the door, Turner disconnected the RV from its power source, CCPD said. Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with Turner, who told them he was on his way to court and looking for clothes to wear.

An investigation revealed that Turner was on the way to court to address a prior burglary, CCPD said. During a search of Turner, officers found approximately 2.9 grams of methamphetamine.

Turner faces charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and possession of methamphetamine.
