WINK News Weather Authority Meteorologists are monitoring a potential area of low pressure that could develop over the Bay of Campeche over the next 7 days, though the area of showers and storms is unlikely to develop significantly.
According to the National Hurricane Center's Tropical Weather Outlook issued Wednesday morning, a broad area of low pressure may form over the southwestern Gulf during the next several days. While some gradual organization is possible, environmental conditions are expected to remain unfavorable for substantial development. The system currently has a near 0% chance of tropical development during the next 48 hours and only a 10% chance of development over the next seven days.
Forecast guidance suggests the disturbance will drift westward and move inland across eastern Mexico late this weekend, limiting its time over water and reducing the likelihood of tropical formation.
WINK News Weather Authority Meteorologists note that no impacts are expected across Florida from this area of showers and thunderstorms.
However, with the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season now underway, this disturbance serves as a reminder that you can find the latest on the tropics all season long from WINK News, The Weather Authority.
