SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — A beautiful day is underway with a bit more sunshine expected through the morning. We're off to a dry but humid start once again, with high temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s, feeling closer to the upper 90s when you factor in the humidity. Showers and storms will develop after 3 PM and continue through the evening, with rain chances around 40%. Most storms should wrap up by 9 to 10 PM.
Looking ahead to Friday, expect a dry and humid start, but more of us will see storm impacts as rain chances climb to 60%. Saturday will also feature widespread storm coverage at 60%, with chances dropping slightly on Sunday. Drier air looks to arrive by Monday, with only isolated storms in the forecast.
An area of high pressure continues to dominate conditions over the waters, keeping winds fairly light at 5–10 knots through the period. Showers and thunderstorms are possible inland today but will push back toward the coast later in the evening. Heading into the weekend, some activity could develop early over the waters before pushing inland through the day.
A broad area of low pressure may form over the Bay of Campeche on Friday from a westward-moving tropical wave near Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Conditions are not favorable for significant development, and the system is expected to move inland over eastern Mexico by late this weekend. It will be a rainmaker for eastern Mexico into southern Texas, but will have no impact on Florida or the rest of the Gulf Coast.
