ESTERO, Fla. (WINK) — The Florida Everblades look to even the Kelly Cup Finals series tonight at home following their dramatic overtime victory on Wednesday.
The Everblades cut Kansas City's series lead to two games to one with the Game 3 win. Tonight, they have a chance to tie the series at two games apiece in front of their home crowd at Hertz Arena.
Craig Needham's overtime winner on Wednesday provided a major momentum swing for the Everblades.
His game-winning goal was his second of the night, with both coming from just feet away from the Mavericks' crease.
Everblades fans erupted after the overtime victory. The win energized the home crowd and gave the team new life in the series.
Everblades forward Jett Jones said crashing the net was part of the team's strategy in Game 3 and will continue to be a focus moving forward.
"Yeah, playoff hockey - you know, a lot of the goals are around the crease, and for us, we talked about it. Game one and two, we felt we didn't do a good enough job, you know, getting inside the house. So, game 3, that was a big point for our offense. We'll just keep continuing to do that," Jones said.
Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. as the Everblades continue their push to bring home the Kelly Cup.
