ESTERO, Fla. (WINK) — The Florida Everblades have turned the Kelly Cup Finals into a best-of-three.
Hudson Elynuik scored 10 minutes, 36 seconds into overtime Friday night, lifting the Everblades to a 3-2 win over the Kansas City Mavericks in Game 4 at Hertz Arena.
The win tied the series at 2-2 after Florida dropped the first two games in Kansas City.
For the second straight game, the Everblades won in overtime on home ice. Craig Needham delivered the Game 3 winner on Wednesday. On Friday, it was Elynuik’s turn.
Florida got on the board first late in the opening period when Reid Duke scored at 15:55 off an assist from Jordan Sambrook.
Kansas City answered quickly in the second period, when Zach Uens tied the game just 16 seconds into the period.
The Everblades took the lead back when Sam Stange scored off an assist from Elynuik. The Mavericks responded later in the period, with Landon McCallum tying the game again.
After a scoreless third period, the game went to overtime tied 2-2.
Elynuik ended it in the extra period, with Sambrook picking up his second assist of the night and Jesse Lansdell also assisting on the game-winner.
The Everblades and Mavericks will play Game 5 on Saturday night at Hertz Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
