SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — A steamy Sunday is in store with highs in the low 90s and feels-like temperatures approaching the triple digits this afternoon. Expect lots of sunshine with passing clouds throughout the day before storms develop later today. Inland neighborhoods have the best chance of seeing scattered storms today.
Rain chances decrease for the start of the upcoming work week, allowing for highs to climb into the mid-90s by the middle part of the week. Scattered storms make their return towards the end of the week.
Boaters headed out to enjoy this Sunday will be greeted with plenty of sunshine and a few coastal storms. Winds are out of the west around 5 to 10 knots. The Gulf wave heights are at 1 to 2 feet with a light chop in our bays and inland waters. The Gulf water temperature is at a warm 88 degrees.
Looking in the tropics, an area of showers and storms has a low 20% chance of developing over the next 7 days. This will bring heavy rain towards eastern Texas and have no impacts to Southwest Florida. Aside from that, everything is quiet in the Atlantic and Gulf.
