SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — Nara Organics is voluntarily recalling all lots of its powdered infant formula due to potential contamination with Clostridium botulinum.
The recall affects Nara Organics Whole Milk Infant Formula in both 700g and 400g sizes, distributed nationally at Target stores, Target.com, and Nara.com between July 2025 and June 2026.
The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control contacted Nara Organics on June 12, 2026, with information about three cases of infant botulism in babies who had consumed the formula.
The three infants were hospitalized and treated with BabyBIG in California, Washington, and Pennsylvania. No deaths have been reported.
Infant botulism is a rare but potentially fatal illness that occurs when Clostridium botulinum spores colonize an infant's intestinal tract and produce botulinum neurotoxins.
Affected infants may present with constipation, poor feeding, droopy eyelids, sluggish pupils, low muscle tone, difficulty sucking and swallowing, a weak or altered cry, generalized weakness, respiratory difficulty, and possibly respiratory arrest.
The three specific product lots to which the hospitalized infants were exposed are 709125280E14F2, 709125288E14F2, and 708125174E14F2.
Nara infant formula has not tested positive for C. botulinum to date, but the company is recalling all products currently on the market out of an abundance of caution.
The recall includes 16 lot codes, which are located at the bottom of each can.
The affected products have UPC codes 860013251901 for the 700g size and 860013251918 for the 400g size.
Customers should stop using the affected products immediately.
Parents whose babies have consumed this product and are presenting symptoms of infant botulism should contact their healthcare provider for immediate care.
