The Cape Coral Police Department recognized six graduating seniors as recipients of its 2026 “Do The Right Thing” scholarships, honoring students who have demonstrated integrity, strong character and a commitment to making positive choices in their community.The scholarships, supported by local organizations and businesses, will help recipients pursue higher education and career training as they begin the next chapter of their lives.This year’s recipients include:Laila Farley, who received a $2,000 scholarship and plans to study exercise science at Florida Gulf Coast University.Brody Menna, who received a $1,000 scholarship and will attend the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy to pursue a career as a firefighter and EMT.Isabella Appleby, who received a $1,000 scholarship and plans to study criminal justice at Florida Gulf Coast University.Lexie Skorzak, who received a $1,000 scholarship and will pursue political science with a pre-law focus at the University of Florida.Madeline Bremner, who received a $2,000 scholarship and plans to study history at New College of Florida.Audreyana Brendel, who received a $1,000 scholarship and will pursue environmental science at the University of Central Florida.In a Facebook post, the Cape Coral Police Department congratulated the students for their achievements and expressed confidence in their future success.The department also thanked the community sponsors whose support made the scholarships possible, including Cape Coral Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 33, Cape Coral Professional Fire Fighters Local 2424, Ecological Properties LLC, FOS Furniture and Cape Coral For the Children.DOWNLOAD the free Gulf Coast News app for your latest news and alerts on breaking news, weather, sports, entertainment, and more on your phone or tablet.
