FORT MYERS, Fla. — Drivers heading through the I-75 and Daniels Parkway interchange should plan ahead for overnight closures beginning Monday.
According to FDOT, crews will briefly close both eastbound and westbound Daniels Parkway, along with the I-75 ramps in the area, beginning at 8 p.m. Monday.
Crews will be working on overhead signals at the interchange as part of the ongoing project.
FDOT says law enforcement will be on scene to assist motorists and help direct traffic through the work zone.
Drivers looking to avoid the closures can use Treeline Avenue or Six Mile Cypress Parkway as alternate routes.
While the construction has been a frustration for some drivers, local driver Kyle Keepers said he believes the finished project will improve traffic flow.
“I’ve got experience with the one on Colonial that was just completed, and ever since it’s been done, I’ve had great success with it. So I think it’s a good idea,” Keepers said.
Officials are asking drivers to use extra caution and plan for extra travel time if they will be in the area Monday night.
FDOT said the work is weather-dependent and could change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
