INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (WINK) — The Florida Everblades defeated the Kansas City Mavericks 5-4 in double overtime of Game 6 of the Kelly Cup Finals early Tuesday Morning.
This victory gave the Everblades their fourth Kelly Cup in 5 years.
The Everblades lost the first 2 games of the seven-game series and then won 4 straight to capture the cup.
Isaac Nurse scored a goal in double overtime to give the Everblades the 5-4 lead that they would not give up.
This win marks the first time in ECHL history that a team has won 5 Kelly Cups.
Goaltender Cam Johnson won his third Kelly Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player Award this postseason.
