The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested a Lehigh Acres father on Monday after he was accused of doing wheelies and recklessly operating an ATV at a high rate of speed with his young child riding on board during a street takeover. In late April, deputies responded to a gas station off Palm Beach Boulevard for a reported street takeover.Surveillance video reportedly shows several ATV riders aggressively performing wheelies at a gas station off Palm Beach Boulevard in Alva. Among them, one rider is accused of maneuvering a white ATV with an 8-year-old child onboard. This video left people like Tracy Widmer shaking her head in disbelief. "I would have called the cops. Definitely! I would have yelled at the guy like, what kind of person are you? What kind of father are you that you're letting your child on the back like that hanging on to you?" said Widmer. Deputies arrested 29-year-old Jordianis Garcia on Monday. Garcia was arrested and faces a charge of child neglect without great bodily harm. Deputies say Garcia was also cited for reportedly racing on a highway, leading to a street takeover. Gulf Coast News also reported in late April that Lee County deputies responded to a reported street takeover at the intersection of Joel Boulevard and Bell Boulevard in Lehigh Acres, leading to two arrests. Now drivers worry it's only a matter of time before stunts like these lead to someone getting hurt. "I just feel like there's so many things going on as people are trying to pump gas. What if someone spilled gas? Something would have went on like, anything could have exploded," said Alva resident Jennifer Tunales. LCSO says they will continue to work to identify any other riders involved.DOWNLOAD the free Gulf Coast News app for your latest news and alerts on breaking news, weather, sports, entertainment, and more on your phone or tablet.
