The State of Florida filed a motion on June 5 to seek the death penalty for the man accused of killing a gas station clerk with a hammer in Fort Myers.According to the State Attorney's Office, Rolbert Joachin, 40, was indicted by a grand jury on a first-degree murder charge, which carries a potential death penalty.According to court documents, the state's notice of intent to seek the death penalty cited the aggravating factor stating, "The capital felony was a homicide and was committed in a cold, calculated, and premeditated manner without any pretense of moral or legal justification."Joachin, who is an immigrant from Haiti, was arrested for the murder of Nilufa Easmin, also known as "Yasmin," following a manhunt on April 2.Joachin's next hearing is on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.DOWNLOAD the free Gulf Coast News app for your latest news and alerts on breaking news, weather, sports, entertainment, and more on your phone or tablet.
