Fort Myers police arrested a man they say was drunk driving in downtown Fort Myers before backing into a patrol car during a traffic stop.According to the Fort Myers Police Department, on Saturday night, officers responded to reports of a suspected drunk driver after a witness reported seeing a pickup truck swerving through traffic and nearly causing multiple crashes. An officer found the truck in downtown Fort Myers and saw the driver exhibit driving behavior consistent with impairment, FMPD said. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the truck, but the driver continued onto the Caloosahatchee Bridge before eventually stopping.During the traffic stop, the driver reversed the truck into the officer's patrol vehicle, crashing into it, FMPD said. The driver was identified as Neil Blair, 50, who officers discovered had two prior DUI convictions.Blair displayed multiple signs of impairment, including smelling like alcohol, bloodshot and glassy eyes, slurred speech and trouble maintaining balance, FMPD said.
