A North Fort Myers man was arrested on Thursday after being accused of assault during an armed disturbance.According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a disturbance involving multiple people in a wooded area near Del Prado Boulevard and Monte Isola Way.Deputies learned that an argument between the parties had escalated when one person brandished a firearm and made threats, LCSO said. Witnesses spoke to deputies and told them that two men arrived on the scene and pointed guns at two victims, which caused the victims to attempt to leave the area, LCSO said. One victim was then pistol-whipped in the process, causing injuries that needed medical treatment.Through investigation, deputies identified one of the suspects as Michael Allen Justis, LCSO said. A victim later told deputies Justis was the one who pointed a firearm at him during the disturbance.Justis was arrested and faces charges of two counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony.“This type of violent, reckless behavior will never be tolerated in Lee County,” said Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “I am incredibly proud of my deputies for their swift response, thorough investigation, and relentless commitment to public safety. Because of their outstanding work, a dangerous offender is behind bars where he belongs. Let this serve as a warning: if you threaten innocent people with a firearm and terrorize our community, we will find you, we will arrest you, and we will hold you accountable.”DOWNLOAD the free Gulf Coast News app for your latest news and alerts on breaking news, weather, sports, entertainment, and more on your phone or tablet.
