SANIBEL, Fla. (WINK) — Florida SouthWestern State College students are turning boredom into art at a new exhibition on Sanibel Island.
The exhibition at BIG ARTS explores boredom not as a lack of activity but as a catalyst for artistic expression. The annual collaboration between BIG ARTS and FSW's School of the Arts features visual, written and multimedia works created by FSW students.
This year's exhibition includes painting, digital media, mixed-media installations and film, along with the winning work from the ART24 competition.
"I believe boredom is something everyone experiences," said William Garcia, an FSW student whose short film is featured in the exhibition. "But those quiet, ordinary moments can also create space for imagination to grow and inspire meaningful ideas and action."
The exhibition highlights how emerging artists transform observation and imagination into original works across multiple disciplines. It also provides students with a professional venue to share their work with the public and gain valuable exhibition experience.
The FSW Student Exhibition: Boredom is open to the public through Wednesday at BIG ARTS, located at 900 Dunlop Road at Sanibel Island.
