FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — Pickleball continues to grow in Southwest Florida, and now players have a new place to hit the courts.
PickleRage has opened its newest indoor pickleball club in Fort Myers, bringing one of the area's largest dedicated pickleball facilities to McGregor Boulevard. The club is located at McGregor Pointe Shopping Center and features 13 climate-controlled indoor courts designed for players of all skill levels.
The facility offers more than just court space. Players can take part in leagues, clinics, lessons and social events while also having access to a pro shop and technology designed to streamline court reservations and check-ins.
Franchise owner Ed Pickett said Southwest Florida needs a place like this, " It's not just a sport, there's also a social aspect to it. People become friends here. After you play, you can hit the smoothie bar for a drink or sit on the couches and watch other people play. We're just getting started here." The club aims to provide opportunities for beginners and experienced players alike to stay active and connect with others through the game.
The opening comes as pickleball continues to see explosive growth across Florida and the country. Southwest Florida has become a hotspot for the sport, with new facilities and leagues popping up throughout the region to meet increasing demand.
The indoor facility allows players to enjoy the game year-round while avoiding Southwest Florida's summer heat and frequent afternoon storms.
Instructor Mitch Rybicki says this is a great place for those who might be intimidated to play, " We get a lot of people who have never played and are nervous. When you get all those people together, they encourage each other and end up all becoming friends."
From professionals to beginners, PickleRage encourages everyone to come on out.
The club is located at 15271 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers.
