Boat crashes into mangroves near St. James City, 1 hurt

ST. JAMES CITY, Fla. (WINK)—A boating incident near York Island sent one person to the hospital.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Lee County Sheriff's Office and Lee County EMS responded to the scene of a single vessel incident. A 16-foot vessel with two occupants on board was traveling near St. James City when an incident occurred causing the vessel to crash into the mangroves.

One of the occupants was injured and transported to a nearby hospital. The boat was taken back to the waterfront restaurant.

The FWC is leading the active investigation. Officials said updates will be provided when more information becomes available.
