Firefighters contained a one-acre brush fire off Oil Well Road on Tuesday morning after it rekindled from a previous fire in the same area on Monday night.
At least seven brush fires have sparked across southern Charlotte and northern Lee counties since Monday, with lightning from storms being a possible source of the flames.
Yellow Creek Preserve in Cape Coral was another hotspot for fires this week.
"It was a really big team effort," said Andrea Schuch, Cape Coral Fire Department public information officer. "We were able to get it contained, and no houses were threatened. So that was really positive. And then it started raining, which helped with the fire extinguishment as well."
The Yellow Creek Preserve fire is now 100% contained. Southwest Florida county and state fire services are monitoring the region for additional fires.
