Two teenagers were arrested on Sunday after they were accused of theft at a business in Cape Coral.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, Maleek Charles Graves, 17, and Markus Lee Gibson, 16, were arrested after an investigation matched them to a theft at a business in southeast Cape Coral, where two suspects were accused of stealing merchandise and fleeing.
Officers said a witness positively identified the two as the suspects who were seen leaving the business after the theft.
A Property Crimes Unit detective learned during an investigation that an employee reported the same two suspects were accused of stealing from the business on Friday and returned later, CCPD said.
According to employees and surveillance video, two masked suspects entered the business. When an employee confronted one of the suspects, the suspect reportedly charged at the employee, struck him and knocked him to the floor, police said.
The second suspect was reportedly removing merchandise from a shelf. A second employee saw and tried to stop the suspect, who reportedly fled, according to officers.
CCPD said video showed the first suspect re-entered the business, where they reportedly grabbed a bottle of wine from a shelf and left with it. Witnesses inside told the police what they saw.
Graves is facing numerous charges, which include burglary of an occupied structure (unarmed), battery (unwanted touch or strike), resisting a merchant, and two counts of petit theft under $100.
Gibson is facing charges that include burglary of an occupied structure (unarmed), resisting a merchant, and two counts of petit theft under $100.
The police said both teens were transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
