Lee County deputies arrested 19-year-old Eilyaha Adderley early Wednesday morning after they said they clocked her driving 101 mph in a 55 mph zone on State Road 82 in Lehigh Acres.
“As soon as you kind of cross that intersection right there, it becomes the Wild West,” said Jonathan Hemingway of Fort Myers.
Deputies said Adderley was not only accused of speeding but also accused of driving without a valid license. Her license had reportedly been canceled for more than two months after she failed to complete a basic driving improvement course.
“Honestly, at this point, going over 100 mph, it breaks a moral code at this point,” Hemingway said.
Jeremiah Morgan of Cape Coral expressed disbelief at the situation.
“That’s ridiculous, I don’t know how that even happens,” Morgan said.
Deputies initially tracked Adderley reportedly speeding on State Road 82 near Alabama Road South in Lehigh Acres. She was eventually pulled over on State Road 82 near Gunnery Road.
“Doubling a speed limit is obviously, you have to be out of your mind to do that,” Morgan said.
Adderley was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle over 100 mph.
