Boat catches fire near Little Gasparilla Island; no injuries reported

Firefighters responded to a boat fire off Little Gasparilla Island Friday morning.

According to Charlotte County Fire & EMS, crews were dispatched around 10:34 a.m. to a boat fire off Little Gasparilla Island. Firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.

Officials said no injuries have been reported.

Pictures from the scene show the boat engulfed in flames, sending thick black smoke into the air.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
