Hit-and-run driver kills man crossing US 27 in Hendry County, FHP says

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. (WINK)—A man was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene early Friday morning on US 27 near Francisco Street, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

The crash happened at 2 a.m. when an unknown vehicle traveling south on US 27 collided with a man attempting to cross the roadway.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his identity is pending positive identification.

The driver fled the scene after the collision. The vehicle is possibly a dually pickup truck with left front damage.
