Low Chance of Tropical Development off the Southeast Coast
The WINK News Weather Authority is monitoring a weak area of disturbed weather just offshore of the Southeast U.S. coast. Disorganized showers and thunderstorms near the coast of North Carolina are interacting with an upper-level disturbance and an approaching cold front. Over the next day or two, a broad area of low pressure could form along the front offshore before slowly drifting south and west.
While some gradual development is possible, environmental conditions are expected to become less favorable later this week, limiting the system's chances of organizing. At this time, the chance of tropical development remains low:
Next 48 hours: 10%
Next 7 days: 10%
This system poses no threat to Southwest Florida, but the WINK News Weather Authority will continue monitoring activity across the Atlantic Basin throughout hurricane season.
