Lee County deputies have confirmed that a 7-month-old child died after drowning in a bathtub at a Lehigh Acres home on Saturday.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 700 block of Cane Street East in Lehigh Acres at 11:05 a.m.
Deputies confirmed that a 7-month-old child drowned in a bathtub at home on the street.
According to the report, a woman said she stepped away while bathing the child for about five minutes. When she returned, the child was reportedly floating and unresponsive, so they removed the child from the tub and called 911.
The child was then taken to the hospital by EMS.
The Florida Department of Children and Families was also notified, and an agent accepted the case, the report stated.
